EXCELLENCE & COMMITMENT AT ITS BEST!!!

Each year, California identifies the strongest, most inspiring public schools and recognizes their achievement through the Distinguished California Schools program.  This year, FOUR Rescue Union School District schools were chosen to be honored.  Schools that are honored must display the following traits: be models of excellence and equity, have a strong commitment to educational excellence for all students, and show achievement of high academic standards.

Common Core State Standards Information for Parents

Educational standards describe what students should know and be able to do in each subject in each grade. Since 2010, 45 states have adopted the same standards for English and math. These standards are called the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). Having the same standards helps all students get a good education, even if they change schools or move to a different state. Teachers, parents, and education experts designed the standards to prepare students for success in college and the workplace.

Smarter Balanced Assessments

The Rescue Union School District students in grades 3-8 have completed the 2014 SBAC Field Test. This was a computerized test in English Language Arts and Mathematics. While the Pilot Test will not produce any results for students, schools or districts, it gave us a wonderful opportunity to experience this new type of assessment and prepare ourselves for next year, when the test will produce results and be used in accountability measures for California schools and districts.

Students typing skills will be critical for success on futureSBAC tests!  All schools in the District use Typing Pals for keyboarding practice.  You may access Typing Pals by going to your school's website and clicking on the Typing Pals icon.  If your student does not have a login, please notify your school office or teacher.
